Franziska Elmer

Ms. Franziska Elmer, a Ph.D. candidate at Victoria University in Wellington, is a member of the RTI project, Coral Recruitment, Calcification, and Bioerosion. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, and a Master’s degree in Ecology and Evolution at the ETH in Zürich. For her Bachelor’s thesis, she wrote a coral bleaching response plan for the St. Eustatius Marine Park (Netherlands Antilles, Caribbean) where she worked as a Marine Park Ranger intern for 6 months. As part of her Master’s degree, she spent one year at the Oceanographic Center of Nova Southeastern University in Dania, Florida, where she completed a research internship and developed a model of the coral reefs of Southeast Florida. After completing her Master’s degree, she spent 4 months working as a research and teaching assistant for CIEE Bonaire, a small exchange student program for undergraduate students focusing on hands-on classes in marine biology, ecology, and conservation.
